At that meeting, there was overwhelming consensus among the 60+ community members in attendance that proposed mining at Rosemont and at various sites in Patagonia, the Canelo Hills and in/near the San Rafael Valley is not consonant with our vision for how our community can best evolve and prosper. I would like to invite both neighbors who attended the meeting and those who were unable to be at Cady Hall this Saturday to contribute to a community dialog regarding the merits and liabilities of mining in our area. Doing so will ensure that all members of our community have a chance to comment. To contribute to the dialog, please "comment" on this posting.

The Forum Board will consider your comments at its next Board meeting (third Monday in October). If these comments suggest a clear community consensus, the Board will prepare a resolution expressing that consensus and forwarding it to elected officials and media.

In order to ensure that the dialog is civil and constructive, I will serve as moderator. I will not ignore intemperate remarks, but rather suggest (via email to the sender) that they be rephrased in service of ensuring strong views are conveyed constructively.

Thanks to all of you who attended today's meeting, and for those of you who didn't, please feel free to add your voice to the discussion.

Stephen Strom
President, SCCF
