Procedure and Protocol for Posting Comments Regarding the Fire District

PUBLISHING A COMMENT

Those wishing to post information or comments regarding the Sonoita-Elgin Fire District will note beneath each post from me (This POST being the first) a small colored link labeled "COMMENTS".

(1) If you wish to post background information, new information or comments, click "COMMENTS". On the left side of the page, you will see already posted comments, if any. On the right side, you will see a box labeled "Leave your comment". Below the Box are three selectable buttons: Blogger, Other and Anonymous.

(2) Choose "Other" by marking the circle next to "Other" and fill in your name in the space below. DO NOT select the 'Blogger' option, and DO NOT attempt to set up a 'Blogger' login and password. Only the forum moderator (Stephen Strom, or a designee serving on the SCCF Board) and webmaster (Karen) have 'blogging' privileges (i.e. the formal privilege to post notices, like this one, to the community). Comments are welcome by all “Others”. I realize that this nomenclature can be a bit confusing, but in this case, consider "Other" a privileged title!

(3) You may either (a) type in your comment in the rectangular box directly above the phrase "Comment Moderation has been Enabled;" or (b) paste in text from another source (an email; a word document -- just so long as the entry is in text form. You cannot post a formatted MS WORD document, a pdf document, a powerpoint document.....JUST TEXT).

(4) Click "Preview".

(5) Another page will load, this one with a yellow-highlighted box on the left side. Edit your comment if you want. While you need not sign your name, in my view a helpful dialog does not benefit from anonymity among the participants.

(6) To forward your comment for posting, click "publish this comment".

(7) Your comment will be forwarded to me, and posted to the page FOLLOWING REVIEW. If I have a question or concern regarding suitability of ‘tone’ or content, I will contact you privately by email or call you. To be published, criticisms and comments should be constructive -- this is our public face to the world, and to our neighbors.

I am happy to see this blog available for comments regarding the Fire District.
The Sonoita-Elgin Fire District is a necessity. Growth in both the population and the traffic demands it. Now we may not be at a critical mass just yet, but we are getting there and a fire district is the next logical step. In addition, not enought people are paying subscriptions, so the a mandatory tax to make it happen is needed. Some have are argued that we are getting ahead of ourselves, that we can do things they we have always done them, but times have changed, especially since 9-11. The government regulations have changed, and new requirements are in place. The cost of doing fire business has increased, and new safety measures must be adhered to.
I realize the county may have mucked up the process to get this fire district established, but I believe it would have passed in any election taken.
Hence we have a fire district, and it is for the best. Let's move ahead and make to the most of it. It does not need to divide our fine community.
